Year 9 Curriculum

Year 9

In year 9 the students study English, Maths, Science, PE, ICT and RE. The table below shows the number of periods allocated to each of the subjects. Each period is 50 minutes in duration.

During the Autumn Term they study a range of Taster Options in 3 blocks. In one block they start the OCR National in ICT. Having completed the Taster Options by December the students select their final options. From the January of year 9 the students start the options they wish to pursue to accreditation.

In addition there is a Tutor Activities programme. PSHE and Citizenship are mapped and supplemented with occasional curriculum shutdown days and part days.

Years 10 and 11 Curriculum

We aim to:

  • provide a range of qualifications from which learners can choose programmes that meet their needs and gain credits for their achievements;
  • ensure that the qualifications provided are worthwhile and valued and that learners can combine academic; and vocational studies appropriately and coherently;
  • offer some scope for specialisation;
  • encourage a high level of key skills;
  • offer clear progression routes into our Post 16 Centre, local FE colleges, further training and employment.
